Join the team at Banner Health, where Medical Excellence provided by the best people, delivering the best care is our Brand Promise! we are seeking anexperienced Clinical Informatics Program Director for the Critical Care Clinical Performance Group. This position is responsible for leading, directing, planning and controlling the activities and functions of multidisciplinary project teams supporting the clinical informatics systems within a specialty area on a system-wide basis. This position manages the analysis, design, measurement, and creation of strategies for enhancing the usefulness of the informatics system applications supporting the specialty areas clinical requirements. This position maintains a depth and breadth of clinical and management knowledge to advance the clinical profession and support excellence in patient care and care transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Leads, plans, directs, and manages multidisciplinary project teams in the development, delivery and enhancement of clinical informatics systems designed to advance the clinical profession and service excellence by promoting system-wide use of clinical care processes that incorporate evidence-based best practices. 2. Establishes and documents quality objectives, milestones, and benchmarks and develops and implements effective tools to measure developmental plans and implementation performance against these standards. 3. Provides support and communication related to the roll out, implementation, utilization and maintenance of the clinical specialty areas informatics documentation system to the executive leadership in each facility.4. Interfaces with and supports managers and staff in all areas and at all levels in the requirements definition, design, implementation and support of clinical specialty informatics systems. Guides the company in the innovative use of emerging technologies to capture operational efficiencies and successfully meet corporate business objectives.5. Responds to and provides resolution of information technology issues and identifies improvement opportunities to ensure smooth and effective operations. Manages analysis of clinical areas work processes, and identifies information technology solutions based on clinical knowledge of health care, to re-engineer clinical work flow and thus drive clinical transformation throughout the organization. Participates in creating and designing a technical vision and strategic plan which includes the continuous assessment and maintenance of the information technology support systems of the clinical specialty areas services.6. Acts as a change agent. Supports change and participates in the development, interpretation, implementation and evaluation of the goals/objectives and quality management activities of the department. Develops, monitors and implements quality improvement initiatives and activities.7. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of the body of clinical informatics specific to clinical specialty area services, current trends and issues in health care, JCAHO Standards, and specialty area best practices. Identifies staff needs related to education and training in the areas of computer skills and competencies in the use of electronic tools for patient care. Ensures training materials for clinical information systems are developed and maintained. May require off-site travel
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSRequires a Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Computer Science or related field.Requires a current or temporary Arizona or other compact state Registered Nurse (R.N.) licensure (or the ability to obtain one).Requires working knowledge of the health care environment including clinical, business, and materials management as related to the clinical specialty area function typically achieved in five or more years of experience in the health care industry.This position requires demonstrated leadership ability and past experience in project management. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle a variety of leadership, decision making, and facilitation requirements while maintaining flexible, self-managed and detail-oriented activities is required. Excellent oral and written communications in group and individual situations is essential. Needs demonstrated facilitation, problem-solving, critical thinking, and human relations abilities.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMasters Degree in Healthcare Administration, Informatics, Business, Computer Science or related field preferred. Management engineering experience preferred; Informatics certification and Information Technology management experience in a large healthcare environment is strongly preferred along with a proven track record of success.
