OverView:
This position is responsible for standardizing the operation of the infection prevention departments, including annual planning, assessments, measurements, education/competency development and policies/procedures in compliance with CDC, the county and state health departments. The responsibilities encompass compliance with Joint Commission (JC) standards, CMS, OSHA, and state regulations, outbreak investigation, and overall direction of system infection prevention program. This position will be based at the Banner Corporate Center, Phoenix, AZ

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Establishes a standardized approach for annual Infection Prevention program planning, risk assessment, program evaluation and action planning that meets regulatory requirements. 2. Coordinates the development of standardized infection prevention policies, procedures, guidelines and best practices that ensures compliance with JC, OSHA, CDC, CMS and other county, state, and federal regulatory agencies.3. Interacts with physicians, nurses, directors, occupational health and other professional/non-professional staff members to provide resource information, resolve infection prevention problems, and identify new opportunities to improve service and reduce costs.4. Directs and supports system teams and facility based infection control staff in standardization of infection prevention data measurement, reporting and statistical analysis.5. Coordinates the development and implementation of standardized educational tools/resources for infection prevention and competency assessment program.6. Coordinates the development and use of standardized software and medical record documentation to support infection prevention functions.7. Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for infection prevention.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSRequires a Masters degree in Public Health or related field.Requires Certification in Infection Control (CIC).Must have a minimum of five years clinical experience in a hospital setting or disease surveillance experience in a public health setting. Requires experience in a large healthcare system.Must have demonstrated leadership abilities. Requires demonstrated excellence in interpersonal and written communication skills. Must possess demonstrated flexibility in responding to the needs of multiple constituencies with a service oriented philosophy. Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate interdisciplinary teams. Computer skills, research and basic statistical knowledge is desired.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSAssociation for Practitioners in Infection Control (APIC) training course or equivalent desired.
