OverView:
This is a non-benefited per-diem position. This position will work four - 8 hr shifts per month as needed to cover open shifts on weekdays, weekends or holidays. This position is responsible for providing assistance with patient care treatment under the supervision of the therapist, in accordance with physician referral, state and national organizational standards, regulatory agencies, and established departmental policies and procedures. This position demonstrates the clinical competence and knowledge necessary to assist with treatment appropriate to the age of the patients served. Service Excellence is demonstrated by consistently exhibiting the BH Service Standards in the performance of this job.

Responsibilities:
Requires visual and auditory ability to assess patient condition. Must have the manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, fine and gross motor skills and tactile abilities to assist with such functions as necessary to scope of practice. Must be able to use critical thinking and problem solving skills. The environment is a patient care area and associated treatment rooms may require maneuvering equipment in tight places. May be required to work in highly stressful situations requiring quick thinking and coordination of a variety of activities at once. Have physical agility to respond in a quick and appropriate manner to unexpected patient and family safety needs. Be able to perform proper body mechanics and have the physical ability to assist patients in ambulating, positioning in bed, and transferring from the bed/mat, wheelchair, or car. Must be able to lift objects in excess of 100 lbs. with assistance and tolerate lifting and/or carrying of objects weighting 50 lbs. or more. Must be able to tolerate prolonged standing, stooping, squatting, bending, pushing and pulling. Must be able to assist with treatment in a variety of patient settings. Requires the ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Must demonstrate effective verbal and non-verbal communication with internal and external customers. Requires good teaching skills. Ability to prioritize delegated task. Must be able to problem solve effectively with patients, families, staff and physicians.

Qualifications:
Must be a high school graduate (or equivalent). Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to follow established policies and treatment procedures. Must have at least 1 year experience working as a therapy technician, and a graduate of a Therapy Technician Program or a related healthcare degree. Relates throughout the interview process their clinical competency, experience, training, education they have received that is preferred to perform the job. Demonstrate through behaviors and answers to job related experiential questions, the ability to demonstrate Service Excellence Standards.
